Summary/Abstract: During the last 25 years after the Dayton Peace Agreement, the security framework of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been largely rebuilt with international support which has been the driving force of security sector reform. However, as the international community’s role slowly decreases, the onus will increasingly be on local authorities to successfully complete these reforms. Successful reform of the security sector will be essential if Bosnia and Herzegovina has to succeed in drawing closer to the European Union and Europe. The paper provides an overview of security sector reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina as an illustration of the multifaceted and complex Europeanisation policies in the Western Balkans and its contributions to human security and protection of human rights in today’s Bosnia. In lieu of the conclusion, the paper will indicate possible solutions to a successful ending of the 25-years security sector reform.
