Summary/Abstract: The aim of this contribution is to consider whether common provisions of the Brussels IIbis Regulation and of the Maintenance Regulation supersede the national rules only in so far as a given situation has substantial connections to the EU or in all situations irrespective of such connections. We will consider external effect (effect on extra-Union cross-border family cases) of the abovementioned Regulations on the basis of analysis of personal-territorial scope of their application.
