Summary/Abstract: Many countries in Europe and in the world are facing problems in the pension system. The problems that may arise in the pension system are as diverse as the industrialized countries and countries in transition and development. But these problems are less pronounced in industrialized countries than in the countries in transition. Some of the factors that led to the emergence of problems in the pension system are the demographic factor, and the ratio of active workers to pensioners insured. Besides these two important factors, another factor that can cause problems is economic growth and rising unemployment. This paper will analyze the pension systems of several countries of Southeast Europe, presenting a short history of the pension reform, and the problems that have arisen.
