Summary/Abstract: This article aims to bring closer knowledge on respecting and protecting rights and freedoms of the individual in Ireland. The author presents the evolution of the source of Irish criminal law and criminal justice system in that country. The influence of the Convention for Protection of Human Rights is also discussed. The text is based on relevant Irish statues and opinions of the country’s jurisprudence.
