Migration from Eastern Europe to Western Europe: Negative Effects on Mothers and Daughters

Summary/Abstract: This study examines the negative effects of the phenomenon of migration on daughters and mothers. The study was conducted in 2018 in the village of Brînza, using a semi-structured interview addressed to mothers who are abroad and whose daughters are left in the Republic of Moldova. Using the semi-structured interview method disclosed why mothers chose the path of migration. The negative effects on daughters and the impact of migration on both sides have been assessed as well as how much they are affected by the choices of their mothers. Data collection was carried out using a semi-structured interview. The results of qualitative research are presented in a narrative report, considered the most appropriate for the research carried out, reproducing the most important things shared by the participants.
