Summary/Abstract: The authors of the paper deal with the visual identity of educational institutions. They point at the importance of visual identity for communication about universities. Visual identity is understood as an element of corporate identity which is based on the philosophy of institution. The authors of this paper made research on public universities logos and based on the features they have in common, the authors divided them into three main groups taking into consideration the symbol the logos represent. The authors studied individual design manuals (logo manuals) as the aim of the paper was to identify fundamental issues/ mistakes universities make while creating a logo.
