Summary/Abstract: "Around the World with Orson Welles" is the title of a little-known six-episode television program by the creator of "Citizen Kane", made in 1955 for the British ITV channel. Although the title of the series includes the whole world, it concerns only a few European travels recorded and commented by the director. In fact, however, Welles visited almost all corners of the world during his colourful and turbulent life, and the places he visited inspired his art. In addition, they not only influenced his artistic identity and visual shape of theatre performances and films, but also left an imprint on his social sensitivity and political awareness. The author, when reviewing the less known places associated with Welles, tracks these influences, and in her journey on Welles’ road less frequently travelled, she is accompanied by films, archive materials and her own impressions from visited locations connected with the life and work of the famous American.
