Summary/Abstract: The text consists of two parts: the first one analysing the item called šaraga in the holdings of the Department of Culture and History of the Varaždin City Museum, and providing insight into its initial owners, members of the aristocratic family of Leitner, and the second one giving a comprehensive description of the complex restoration and conservation works conducted by the experts of the Restoration Department in Ludbreg within the Croatian Conservation Institute in Zagreb. In the collection of the Varaždin City Museum, an interesting, but severely damaged object was found, on which no museum records were detected. The research confirmed that the item was of significant artistic and cultural value and that it represented a part of a carriage in the former ownership of the Leitner family from Varaždin. Owing to the data collected and the evaluation of the item, it was enlisted in the conservation program of the Croatian Conservation Institute.
