Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the present study is to highlight a less studied aspect concerning the court life in medieval Moldavia: the funeral ceremony of women from princely families – princes’ mothers, wives and daughters. Therefore, we are interested in the ceremonies which took place after the “great passing” and less in the meanings that death had in the Moldavian Middle Ages. Among the three essential moments of Christian life – birth, marriage, death – the last one, together with its associated ceremonies, is dedicated exclusively to the women covered by our study. This is because the ceremonies that were held from the moment of death until the funeral were dedicated only to the princes’ mothers, wives and daughters and they showed the role, importance and statuts of these women.
