Summary/Abstract: The paper reveals the recently book Nicolae Coculescu – O viață printre stele / Nicolae Coculescu – A life among stars, edited at Eikon Printing House in 2016. Professor Magda Stavinschi continues the important work of restitution the memory of famous Romanian scientist, almost forgotten for many years. Nicolae Coculescu is the founder of the Astronomical and Meteorological Observatory from Bucharest, in 1908, dean of Faculty of Science, Bucharest University, and shortly its rector in 1932, a passionate scientist in astronomy, university professor and highly interested in fine arts, history and literature. The author is laboriously investigating the documents found in the National Library of Romania, offering details about Macedonia origin of the family, the high education started in Craiova, his birth place, Faculty of Science in Bucharest and, finally, the activity developed at Sorbonne University to defend the doctorate title in the field of celestial mechanics, the participation of the young scientist to the French team coordinated by professor Henri Deslandres to investigate the solar eclipse in Senegal, 1893. Professor for a long time, director of the Observatory, Nicolae Coculescu was famous for his strong character, dignity, honesty, fine intellectual and dedicated father. The love for his son Pius Servien philosopher, scientist, aesthetician is a model of special spiritual relationship.
