Summary/Abstract: In this essay, I want first to explain what feminist epistemology is, how it differs from traditional, conventional and, possibly, social epistemology, as well as to point to some of the contemporary approaches in feminist dealings with theoretical problems of knowledge. In the second part of the essay, I will focus on 'non-existence' of feminist epistemological research in Serbia, and on the importance of reasoning about concepts such as 'situated knowledge' and 'situated knowing subject' in opposition to universalistic pretensions of mainstream epistemology.
