Summary/Abstract: The text represents a short retrospect of a philosophically relevant history of key concepts in feminist theory – sex and gender. Those concepts were crucial in the process of constitution of gender (women) studies as well as for the manouvering of feminist practice. On the other hand, however, and Judith Butler demonstrates this excellently, those concepts are also the points of a fecund dispute, opening the space of resignification, different (new?) ways of thinking about fundamental assumptions of feminist theory. While it leaves feminist theory devoid of firm, fixed position, ensuing instability offers a specific, subversive potential of a theory in general, expanding also the domains of inclusiveness in practice.
