Language Poetry and Language Feminist Poets

Summary/Abstract: The text is about the transformations and ideologies of American experimental poetry of the second half of XX century. I follow the changes in the relation of poets to the language and the subject of a poem, with the accent on the understanding of poetry as a performative genre. By pointing to the status of the women language poets, I also point to the differences between narrative feminist women poets, such as Adrianne Rich, for example, and experimental women language poets, such as Lyn Hejinian. The issue of power in poetry is determined by one's ability to theoretically define the field of experimental poetry. Therefore, I stress the relation of the women poets to theory, as well as their place in the existing anthologies.
