The image of Latvia and Latvians in Polish opinion-making weekly magazines

Summary/Abstract: The article presents an analysis of the image of Latvia and Latvians, made on the basis of press articles from two opinion-making high-volume weekly magazines “Polityka” and “Do Rzeczy”. The study showed that the authors of texts published in both magazines in the last five years create a positive image of the country and its inhabitants. A characteristic feature of the presented image is the perception of Latvia as part of a larger whole (through the prism of geographical location, economic and political relations, military arrangements, etc.). The article also discusses the picture of Latvian-Polish and Latvian-Russian relations created in both magazines.
