National and regional identity of children and young people in Zaolzie

Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of this research was to check how parents support the development of national and regional identity of children covered by primary school education and pre-school education in schools with Polish language as teaching language in the region of Czech part of Teschen Silesia. In order to obtain information on this topic, I decided to use the method of a questionnaire survey, which was addressed to the parents of primary school children with the Polish language of instruction in Karviná and to the kindergarten with the Polish language of instruction in Karviná. The research study is situated in the border region of Karviná, a region in which Polish and Czech influences have coexisted for centuries. The research was carried out during the school year 2017/2018.
