Technology Foresight as a Tool For Prioritising R&D at the Strategic Research Institutes

Summary/Abstract: The article describes an original model of technology foresight that would allow a strategic research institute in Poland to prioritise the areas in which it intends to conduct research. The article presents the research method used in designing the model, describes its main elements and provides an overview of the model’s pilot verification process, which was carried out at the Institute for Sustainable Technologies – National Research Institute (ITeE – PIB). Verification methodology is described on the exemplary thematic area related to pro-ecological technologies. The results from the model verification at ITeE – PIB were used to generate the strategic scientific research programme “Innovative systems of technical support for sustainable development of the economy“, which is being realised within the Innovative Economy Operational Programme.
