Summary/Abstract: This essay discusses the early Bezalel School of Arts and Crafts in Jerusalem (1906–1929), highlighting the connection to Vilnius of its founder Professor Boris Schatz and of one of its teachers, Abel Pann. While Prof. Schatz represents a more academic painting style, Abel Pann is a representative of a modernist style.
