Summary/Abstract: A general discussion of the epistemological foundations of a psychology of perception will be exemplified by examples from visual and aural illusions. Based on differences be- tween perception and cognition, the idea of perception as action is introduced and dis- cussed in the light of modern theories of perception. Finally, a clear differentiation between perception as the sensorial input and cognition as a process that generates meaning consol- idates the focus on perception and action.
