Summary/Abstract: Based on the comprehensive analysis of unpublished sources, we study the condition of children in the Canton of Sviyazhsk, TASSR during the famine of the early 1920s. We describe the activities of public education authorities, aimed at creating children’s institutions in the canton. Particular attention is paid to the work of the American Relief Administration and the Pomgol Cantonal Commission on food provision for children.
