Summary/Abstract: According to the statistical data of 2006, 25 youth schools functioned in Lithuania and 2200 students were studying there. They were 12–18 years old. Teenagers, who do not adopt in secondary schools because of their low learning motivation, emotional and behavior problems and strain of crime activities, get into youth schools. The main purpose of these schools is to reduce social disjuncture of teenagers, help them solve learning and psycho-social problems. In order to realize these aims extremely professional pedagogues are needed, who would evaluate positively the potential of their students and have a more positive attitude towards them. Various researches show unfavorable attitude of society towards problematic social groups. Consequently planning a research an assumption that youth school pedagogues are not an exception in this sense was made. The results of the research presented in this paper reveal a tendency that attitude of youth school pedagogues towards their students are rather unfavorable, reflecting poor confidence in the potential of students. Another problem is that pessimistic rather than optimistic orientation of pedagogues and negative expectations towards their students might appear as “self-fulfilling prediction”, i. e. to materialize in reality.
