Summary/Abstract: During the period from 1922 to 1939, close to one thousand lawyers' diplomas were awarded at the Law Department of the Lithuanian and later Vytautas Magnus University. One of the conditions for obtaining a diploma was a written work. In total, 529 diploma theses have been preserved. Students wrote on various legal topics – from the legal aspects of the creation of the state of Lithuania up to the legal status of the Transjordan. Sixfteen theses were dedicated to the analysis of the law of the Memel Territory. The article is mainly based on documents found in the Department of Manuscripts of Vilnius University Library and the Central State Archives of Lithuania.
