Summary/Abstract: This paper analizes the colloquial and slang language from the novel Groapa, by Eugen Barbu. The novel combines, very originally, two stylistic registers, apparently independent and contradictory: artistic (specific work of art, creative writing) and slang (conventional language used moystly homeless or other people who want not to be understood by the others). The characters are distinguished through their language, clearly disociating themselves from the rest of the society, sometimes overlapping or requiring the specific brand of marginality.
