Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to highlight the role of marketing activity in the higher education institutions. To accomplish this work, I chose to make a comparison between the universities in the Romanian education system. I also conducted a marketing research addressed to students of „X” University. Through this I wanted to find out the impact of the university promotion activity on the decisions taken by the students and how they can work with the university staff in order to create the most favourable image for the institution.
