Summary/Abstract: The collection of ballads Kytice written by Karel Jaromír Erben belongs to the masterpieces of Czech romanticism. This collection is significant for its interconnection with history, folk poetics and Czech national tradition. It was translated into Slovak in 1970s by Ľubomír Feldek. The result of this translation was an enrichment of Slovak juvenile literature with this important and valuable piece of art. The paper is focused on the comparison of the Czech original with the Slovak translation. Specific features are noticed and highlighted, and the value of Feldek’s translation in Slovak juvenile literature is analysed.
