Summary/Abstract: An extraordinary incident in diplomatic history is the arrest of the Romanian minister in Petrograd, C. Diamandy, on 14th January 1918 as a measure of retaliation at the hostility of the Romanian government against the Bolsheviks in Romania and the response of the whole diplomatic corps in the Russian Capital, especially the French and American ambassadors, in order to obtain from V.I. Lenin the liberation of the Romanian diplomat.
