Summary/Abstract: In this research we aimed to investigate the Romanian medical system by comparing it with other medical systems in EU member states. Also it is presented the comparisons results at national level, between hospitals in counties and different regions. We conducted an econometric analysis at the level of EU Member States, between health expenditures (as a share of GDP), economic growth and life expectancy for those states. The analysis of county hospitals aims to show how the resources of each hospital were used. The database contains information on: total expenditures, salary expenditures, medicines expenditures, sanitary expenditures, average cost per patient, average cost per bed and average cost per day. For the period 2003-2017, data were taken from the budgets to each hospital (sent to the National Health Insurance House). Macroeconomic data on economic growth, the level of health expenditures (as a share of GDP), as well as other indicators, were taken from EUROSTAT for the period 2008-2017, for 30 countries (including Romania).
