Summary/Abstract: The centenary of World War 1 represents an opportunity to try out different approaches on the manner in which the Romanian society maintained the memory regarding this extremely important episode in our history. From this perspective, there are two dimensions of outstanding importance: first, the relation between diplomats and political decision-makers, and, second, the management of diplomatic documentary sources with the sole goal of recreating an accurate picture of the past. The paper below discusses both dimensions, at the same time pleading for the establishment of a national fund of diplomatic documents, which should be accessible online.
