Summary/Abstract: The Middle East, which holds 48% of global oil reserves and 38% of natural gas reserves, has become an increasingly important region for Chinese foreign policy. The strategically changing position of the Middle East in the Chinese entire diplomacy has started a heated debate over the possible impacts of Chinese Middle East policy on the international system. In this study, China’s diplomatic stance in the Middle East is analysed within the general lines of Chinese foreign policy. Accordingly, the main argument of the study is that China’s Middle East policy is determined by a paradigm that reflects the Chinese political thought of the imperial period and Confucian values. According to the findings of the study, it is concluded that the strategic importance of the Middle East in Chinese diplomacy has increased.
