Summary/Abstract: The article presents a collection of two swords and ten battle knives from the Thracian and Roman age, which are stored in the Historical Museum of Dalgopol. The first sword belongs to the so-called “celtic type” swords, from the Late iron age. It was discovered during excavations in the vicinity of village of Arkovna, and dating back from the III-I century BC. The second sword is “Spatha” type, from the Roman age. It is discovered during excavations of a mound in the vicinity of the village of Tutrakantci – Provadian region. Dated to the II century. Depending of the blade shape, the presented knives are divided into three main groups: The first three of them, are “Machaira type”, with a curved inward blade. They are found near three Provadian villages – Gabarnitca, Bozveliysko and Komarevo . This type of knives are been used during the Thracian age, IV–I century BC. The second group consist just one knife with a wide arcuate curved blade, found in the vicinity of Dalgopol. Dated to the Late iron age III–II century BC. The third group is largest one, includes six knives with straight blades and highly pointed tips. Probably the first two of them, from the villages of Asparuhovo and Royak are from the Thracian age. The other four knives found in the Dalgopol region, are from the Roman age, I–IV century. I hope that the materials presented in this article will be interested the readers, and fill another gap in the archaeological knowledge of the Provadian and Dalgopol region.
