Examples of outer school and extracurricular activities conducted during the educational program "A different type of school"

Summary/Abstract: The school year of 2012 has brought forth the „School Otherwise” program, as a way of teaching things differently. The activities happening this week are complementary, in terms of structure, to the usual teaching done in class. This type of activities have a formative influence upon children, in more than one way: walks, trips,visits, contests, shows, theatre workshops, arts etc. During these activities, children often face new situations, through practical approaches which require them to use previously acquired notions in different contexts.This type of activities provide a form of integrating school activities within the community, of strengthening the bond between school and family, of broadening children’s field of knowledge and of stimulating both curiosity and the feeling of belonging in a group. Even if at first we were reluctant of what the results of the „School Otherwise” would look like, I now feel confident that it was a success,proof being the final impression left on the pupils, who eagerly await next year’s edition.
