Summary/Abstract: Ljudevit Rupčić was a Herzegovina Franciscan priest (1920-2003) and professor of New Testament exegesis at Franciscan Theological Seminary in Sarajevo from 1958 to 1988. His translation of the New Testmanet with short introduction to individual books and commentary in footnotes was first published in Sarajevo in 1961. Later on he improved his translation and commentary editing several times his New Testament; last edition was published in 2008. After he briefly described the concept of dynamic translation as presented by Bible scholar Božo Lujić and expert for Croatian language Boris Beck, the author of this essay submits to analysis the translation and commentary of the Epistle of James by Lj. Rupčić. He espacially drew attention to James 1,21.26; 2,17.26; 3,5; 4,4.15; 5,5.13-15.16. By giving subtitles to small units (which are not integral part of the inspired text but serve to assist the readers with understanding the holy text) Rupčić was at standard translation level of his time. He was efficient in faithful translation of Greek New Testament and making his translation attractive to modern Croatian readers.
