Summary/Abstract: In this article the authoress explains, what is the meaning of the concepts “family” and “authority”. She emphasizes that both these concepts are today variously defined. We should understand family as “the community of life and love which has an important role in educational process, that is in the process of strengthening and spreading the children’s nature by awakening the confidence, example of life and formation of the personal patterns”. The concept of authority is ambiguous; it can signify some feature, propriety and the subject of property. Moreover we can distinguish personal, institutional, ideological authority. Another very important division of authorities is: the “natural” authorities, which arise “with nature of thing”, as well as the arbitrary authorities – introduced from outside. The parents’ authority belong to natural category. The authoress focuses on the authority of family in her social dimension – as the basic social unit, and also on the family in personal dimension – as a community of persons.
