Summary/Abstract: With a definition of extreme behaviour and situations as his point of departure the author proposed a differentiation into local and global extremities, selected and imposed situations, in order to indicate the relative character of the extremity and its dependence upon affects, and, finally, to reflect on the significance of this category in our life.
