Summary/Abstract: Although the biological family is the child's first and basic social environment, institutional care is of great importance from the point of view of its broadly understood good. Foster families and family-type children’s homes are an alternative environment that provides opportunities for a child deprived of being raised by the family. Thanks to foster care, the child does not experience life in a large institutional facility, where placement should only be the final solution– especially for difficult children.
