Summary/Abstract: The article examines the way the press reflected the attempts at gaining Bulgarian support for Poland’s independence. It is based on press publications covering the subject of independence in the period preceding 11 November 1918. Attention is drawn to the particularly important role in publicizing the Polish question played by the press organ of the Supreme National Committee Wiadomości Polskie (Polish News). The information contained therein, from brief notes to analyses and Bulgarian materials, most frequently published by Tadeusz S. Grabowski, not only documented Polish activity in this sphere, but also reflected the reactions and increasing interest of Bulgarians in Poland. These publications also showed the emerging thread of disaffected attitudes towards Russia, as well as the ethnic factor of community interaction that manifested itself in the creation of mutual contacts in the fields of culture and science.
