Summary/Abstract: Using historical events as training material is, I think, more illuminating than using constructed scenarios because history often includes elements that the author of a scenario must reject as being impossible or too unlikely. However, as a tool for understanding current affairs both for the politician and for the intelligence analyst, history has a right use and a wrong use. Therefore so many people believe “that the only thing one can learn from history is that one cannot learn anything from history”? In this respect I will try to answer the following question: How useful is historical knowledge and training as an historian for an intelligence analyst?
