Summary/Abstract: Unchanged reproduction of a study published on pages 10-11 of issue 1 in the second volume of our journal. The Town and Village Statistics Division of the Supervision Department of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office conducted a snapshot survey on towns and villages in March 1952. The survey covered all towns and villages in the country. Local councils were responsible for providing data and the monitoring was carried out by district and county statistical groups. The study on how to prepare the said survey briefly describes the concept, role and significance of snapshot statistics and the data collection tasks of local councils.
