Summary/Abstract: The article investigates the relationship between a journalistic genre and its place of publication. The review and the feuilleton are one of the oldest genres, which date back to the mid-18th century. As it has turned out, the most important factor that stimulated changes in press writings was the developing democratization of journalism, which was closely connected with a desire to reach a wide circle of readers. In tandem with these transformations, journalistic genres evolved. In fact, analyzing the development of the review and the feuilleton, it is possible to observe certain regularities. On the one hand, certain most distinctive features of journalistic genres were reinforced. On the other hand, new forms, which stretched the boundaries of these genres, emerged.
