Summary/Abstract: The text type testament is not necessarily associated with the factor ‚emotionality‘, even though the subject it is based on is highly emotionally charged for testators and descendants alike. The texts produced for this purpose are primarily legal documents. Their most important issue is the creation of legal validity. The extent to which emotions can be found in the texts is examined on the basis of a corpus of count testaments from the 16th and 17th centuries.
