Summary/Abstract: The article reveals events that occurred in an area located south of Azerbaijanin northwestern Iran in the years immediately following the end of World War I. These events are mainly related to the struggle to gain autonomy in the area within Iran, culminating in the rebellion in Tabriz, led by the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan, on 7 April 1920. For a short time, the power was entirely in the hands of the rebels who carried out reforms in the fields of economy, education, health care, the fight against poverty and military affairs. They established an independent republic, which ended on September 12, 1920.
