Summary/Abstract: In Polish sociology, there are many misunderstandings about actor-network theory (ANT). This is well illustrated by Michał Kaczmarczyk’s article entitled An Invasion of Tricksters. We respond to his criticism. Our ambitions, however, go beyond an exposition of Kaczmarczyk’s interpretative errors and other deficiencies of his argumentation. Primarily, we confront various strategies for the use of philosophical findings in social research and discuss their scientific utility. Also, we offer an alternative, internal criticism of ANT.
