Summary/Abstract: Author’s intention was to engage in a discussion on the growing threat of using the tools of technology by IT corporations to limit the freedom of Internet users. It is not only the restriction of freedom but also the manipulation of the offer so its marketing dimension seems extremely attractive to the user, while at the same time, it conceals the practice of multiple use of acquired customer information without their informed consent. Practices adopted by IT corporations are not sufficiently legally protected, i.e. in such a way so as not to create threats to the customers. It often stands in sharp contrast to the principles of ethics. Media content analysis method was used to analyze the conduct of IT corporations, especially Facebook. The analysis included statements quoted in articles, opinions of journalists and the results of research conducted by academic centers. The negative phenomena described in the article were confirmed by the author’s research.
