Summary/Abstract: Genre transformation is one of the most specific issues when it comes to genre. This is not a general focus in transformation as a process that surpasses the problematics of genre; instead, this is a focus on genre. In this paper, the focal point is on contemporary Albanian literature, yet, in reality, this phenomenon is also evident in other corpora. In the three cases that this study focuses on, i.e. Shkreli, Gërvalla and Kadare, it is observed that the quantum as well as the quality of the genre transformation depends on the nature of the intitial genre and the reconfigurating genre; in specific cases, within the reconfigurated genre certain literary categories become dysfunctional. Interferences and differences collide in every aspect: conceptual and thematic, temporal and spatial, and in characters. Thus, in Genre Transformations in Albanian Literature, the novel serves as a converging point out of which it has diverged for the first time in the drama form [Shkreli], the second in the short story [Gërvalla] and the third in poetry [Kadare].
