Summary/Abstract: The social interaction and the development of the collective spaces have contributed to the evolution of the three-dimensional image by its integration into the contemporary urban space under different forms and with various utilities. The 3D image represented by video applications, such as urban screens, digital signage and media facades, redefines the space and architecture they interact with. By definition, video art in public space is becoming more and more important due to the links created between the image, projection patterns, architectural structures, and the users of urban context. This direction of video art development has created new connections, between digital space and urban space, between architecture and art, creating a new platform with a multitude of levels of manifestation. The media facades transform the exterior surface of a building into an oversized digital screen animating the urban atmosphere, especially due to its high visibility and visual impact on the environment and the collective. To calssify types of media facade, will be considered more properties and features specific to screen technology. In this case there are two categories of facades, those with a mechanical component and the electronic ones. There are facades that communicate with the environment through its mechanical components, having elements in the facade with the quality of moving, and those that use light and colour to communicate text or image. Mechanical media facades that have a movable exterior element due to the hydraulic, pneumatic or motor-driven mechanism differ from the electronic media facades where the appearance of the facade is changed by using light and color technology.Communication of an image through an electronic medium can be categorized into subcategories reflecting the range of available technologies. In this category there are three electronic media that can be used to transmit text or an image.
