Summary/Abstract: The results of the historical and legal research help establish some conclusions. Polish National Bank has been appointed under the 1945 decree. But the idea of its creation appeared in 1944. Despite this the legislator did not consider it in the rules a little constitution of 1947. State of omissions NBP by the normative act of the highest political rank lasted a relatively long time. The method of creating the President of the NBP passed evolution, which resulted from the frequent changes in the law with regard to this matter. In summary it falls to stress the most important conclusions. In my opinion, the lack of publishing the statute of Polish NBP from November 1959 in the government gazette was caused by the awareness of the adoption of the resolution adjustment, contrary to the law under Article 6, paragraph 4 of the Act on the NBP of 1958 relating to the creation of the President of the NBP.Act of 1982 plucked a long-standing practice of subordination of NBP enforcement authorities for the creation by the Sejm.„Small constitution” of 1992 was the first act of this magnitude, which regulated the functioning of the components of the central bank. However, fuller provisions in this matter contains the Constitution of 1997. Nowadays, the mode of appointment and term of office of the President of NBP gained constitutional status, which makes it difficult to make changes in this matter. De lege ferenda, it requires consideration of the demand constitionalization also mode of the President of the NBP.
