Summary/Abstract: The Paris Peace Conference began on January 18, 1919, with the aim of debating the new politico-territorial configuration and resolving the complicated economic and financial problems resulting from the First World War. 27 states participated, including Romania, with numerous delegates, representatives of different fields, lawyers, economists, geographers, journalists, etc. Horia Petra-Petrescu, writer, publicist, graduate in philosophy, was among Romania’s delegates at the Paris Peace Conference, as a representative of the press. He described his impressions of this great event in an article entitled “The Peace of Versailles — Impressions of the Paris Peace Congress”, published on May 7, 1919. The author began his article by presenting to the readers the personalities that accompanied him: the diplomat Caius Brediceanu (representative of Banat at the Conference), the journalist Aurel Esca, Ion I. C. Brătianu (Head of the Romanian Delegation), Georges Clemenceau (Prime Minister of France), Thomas Woodrow Wilson (President of the United States), David Lloyd George (Representative of Great Britain), Vittorio Emanuele Orlando (Representative of Italy) and Ulrich Count von Brockdorff-Rantzau (on behalf of Germany). On his return from Paris, Horia Petra-Petrescu found himself in the company of Ioan-Brătianu, Alexandru Vaida-Voevod, Nicolae Mișu, Constantin Brătianu and Caius Brediceanu. In the car that brought them back to Romania, they shared their views on the Paris Conference, which, after long debates, concluded with a fragile peace.
