Summary/Abstract: MEPs organize themselves not only in political groups and parliamentary committees but also have the possibility to work in intergroups, the “semi official” bodies of the European Parliament. My study, based on interviews with MEPs and official documents of the Union, in particular the Rules of procedure of the EP, intends to present the structure and characteristics of these intergroups as well as their place in the EP’s system, with special attention paid to their role in the representation of interests.
