Summary/Abstract: The article aims to explore the specificity of emigrantological studies and the role that phenomenology plays in them. The author draws attention to the fact that emigration and its rich tradition open a new venue for conductingmultifaceted research. Apart from anthropological (human philosophy) and personalistic approaches, phenome-nological ones, including the phenomenology of intimacy, can also lead to fruitful results. This new trend appears in the Polish philosopher Adam Hernas’s book You have always been with me (Od zawsze jesteś przy mnie) and inthe work The Phenomenology of Inti-macy (Fenomenologia bliskości) written by Elena Kaliteevska – the Russian representative of the phenomenological psychiatry.
