Phraseological expressions - marks of the ironic discourse

Summary/Abstract: Starting from a couple of theoretical remarks about the semantic nature of irony, the first part of the present paper analyzes the linguistic markers of the ironic intent for some of the representative Romanian phraseologisms pertaining to the ironic register; the second part of the paper focuses on the discursive use with reference to some of them, i.e. on the means of actuating the contextual ironic meanings in the public discourse.
