Summary/Abstract: This article is referred to international humanitarian law. Specifically the main aim of this article is to explain how civilians can be protected during a war. The analysis will start with the meaning and the evolution of the humanitarian law, which are the introductive considerations. After the main topic will be mentioned and analyzed: why is the protection of population so important according to the Geneva Convention relative to the protection of the civilians ( 12 August 1949 ).
